Protest 2021: 100 thousand poets for change

I am excited to share my poem, We The People, that has been published in Protest 2021 by Moonstone Press. I did a live reading of the poem on September 25, 2021. I wrote this poem this last year while witnessing the numerous protests taking place in the U.S. so many of us feel left out of the decision making, that our voices are not heard. this poem speaks to the feeling. We must continue to rise up!

We The People

It says “We the people”,

Meaning the masses.

WE shall all have a seat at the table

No prerequisites required.

For WE is powerful

And you will feel our power,

know the sound of our voices,

the weight of our words.

For WE shall have a say

In our lives and our rights.

WE will write the future

Of this country, together.

Regardless of sex, creed

Skin color, or who we love

For WE will decide what the

History books say about you

No more biological qualifications

Can keep us from our government.

WE are the United States of America

And WE will march for the country we deserve.
