Liberte, Egalite, Fraternite Anthology

I am proud to share my piece “Children of the Revolution” that has been published by the Moonstone Arts Center.

Children of the Revolution

Can you hear us chanting?

Vérité, beauté, liberté, amour

It's the call of revolution

Knocking on your door.

Vérité! For the truths are exposed
Black lives matter, Queer lives matter,

Women’s lives matter, Trans lives matter

We all deserve to breathe.

Beaute! Cry the visionaries,

Seeing the beauty of our world.

While you cover it with oil and ash

We mop it up and wash it away

Planting trees on your parking lots.

Liberté! A life for all,

that is free of oppression

You stomp on our necks

But we won’t stay down

We have the strength

of our brothers and sisters.

Amour! For love will always win.

You divide us with race, gender, and class

But love knows no boundaries.

It is a power you cannot smother

We will be subjugated no longer

You will listen to our chant

Vérité, beauté, liberté, amour

Till the guillotine goes silent.
